NIMR-Mbeya has been a centre of excellence for conducting research focusing on HIV, tuberculosis, and associated comorbidities for the past 20 years. The centre has vast experience conducting clinical trials (several on new diagnostics, interventions in the health system, TB drug and diagnostic trials, and HIV vaccine trials), basic research, observational as well as operational/implementation studies both in the region and internationally.
